There are a lot of 3D software. Some are easy and others hard to use, there are free ones like Blender others expensive like Autocad (that you can't even own). There are some to create buildings, others to work with organic figures. To choose what software do you want you have to decide what kind of project are you going to create, and then the level of your own skill.
SketchUp, is a software owned by Google that is directed to create building or geometric designs for people with low skills in 3D creations. So, perfect for most of us. The program is amazingly easy and even if the beginnings can be a little hard, its really easy to get better after a few tries. It works for Mac and Windows, and apparently it works in Linux under Wine.
Google just released SketchUp 8, it brings some new things and some improvement from the previous versions. Lets know what can we do with this software
